Happy Anniversary to US!

In 1973, a group of fifteen Black youth dubbed Chocolate City, disappointed with the lack of funding for essential training programs, marched to City Hall to demand $75,000 in funds to train community members for viable careers where they could support themselves and their families.
This event marks the beginning of our story.
For over fifty years, YCD has assisted thousands of individuals in obtaining employment and establishing successful careers. One of these individuals is Ebony Reid, who joined our EPA Environmental Technician Training program after completing the SF Conservation Corps program.
Ebony gained certification in Asbestos Abatement, Lead Worker, and First Aid/CPR through YCD's EPA JRT program, and her hard work and dedication, along with our support, led her to become a Journeyman Laborer at LiUNA! Local 67, Asbestos, Lead & Mold Remediation and Allied Industries in 2021.
Ebony is currently working on a construction project at the SF Public Utilities Commission (PUC) Southeast Treatment Plant in Bayview-Hunters Point in 2023, which is a testament to her success story.
We celebrate YCD's 50th Anniversary and the importance of investing in our communities by providing opportunities for people to succeed.
We are grateful to be a part of Ebony's journey and many other success stories, and we look forward to continuing our work and making a difference in people's lives.
